#JDVTravel's coverage of the stunning @CostaCruises #CostaLuminosa while docked @PortofLA

By Joy A. Kennelly

#‎JDVTravel‬ was privileged to be included in a very special tour and dinner aboard the stunning Costa Luminosa recently as it docked in the Port of Los Angeles during their "Round the World" cruise layover.

For some reason I thought it was a simple harbor cruise aboard a small boat, and was blown away by the immense size of this majestic cruise liner upon arrival.

I had invited my friend and JDV Travel member, Maria LoBosco, to join me and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour and dinner.

We also enjoyed meeting many members of the Costa Cruise family including the Captain of Costa Luminosa, two other executive members and our very own San Pedro Visitors and Convention Bureau representative.

#JDVTravel at #StyleFashionWeekLA was a blast @MalanBreton's #fashion show.

By Joy A. Kennelly

Part of the fun of attending Style Fashion Week LA is seeing what all the attendees are wearing to highlight their fashion style and also bumping into old friends I generally only see at events. Here's me and Rocco of Fashion News Live after the show.

It was fun to attend Malan Breton's Asian-inspired fashion show as it opened Style Fashion Week LA with a very distinctive flavor which included live music, a mini-doc, and interesting couture fashions designed from brocade in bright colors and also very soft colors.

Here's a few pix to entice you to click over to our fan page for all our Fashion Show coverage here.

One of the many bright suits the male models wore to open the show. Definitely could see the Asian influence here. And one of the sophisticated gowns also shown.

I recently visited Orlandos in Redondo Beach and was pleasantly surprised at how classy this Italian restaurant was seeing as it's in a little strip mall.

However, don't you find most of the best places are tucked away in obscure places? Orlandos is no exception. http://www.pizzeriaorlandos.com/

Recently visited #SiliconValley and heard fascinating #China & #US panels @SiliconDragon #Tech #Startups

By Joy A. Kennelly

In case you aren't aware by now, in addition to my travel fan page and lifestyle events, I also cover tech events and then share them on my Digital Marketing Specialist Fan Page which you can like to stay up-to-date, or follow me here since I like to spread the love around.

This year I have free flight privileges through my Mom and finally was able to take advantage of it and flew up to SFO to participate in the very interesting Silicon Dragon mini-tech conference held at Draper University.

Especially enjoyed hearing this young man speak because I believe he will revolutionize the world with his robotics - please fund him.:)

I also enjoyed hearing Linkedin, Uber, Evernote and Silicon Valley Bank speakers discuss doing business in China and other panels as well.

Lots of tech industry heavyweights participated and I've given a very comprehensive review of the entire Silicon Dragon confernce which you can read when you click here.

Don't forget to read the captions. That's where I put all the good stuff.:)

Here's my pictorial essay of the recent @LATravelMassive mixer - make sure to click the link for more!

By Joy A. Kennelly

P1070666

Recently attended the fun LA Travel Massive mixer over at Gracias Madre and enjoyed meeting fellow travelers in a really beautiful outdoor garden setting.

Lots and lots and LOTS of travel bloggers, an occasional professional travel journalist and travel professional too which made for fun conversation. I know citizen journalism is on the upswing, but I have a degree in journalism, am a published writer off my blog and find I respect those who are published offline a little more which is my own personal bias.

I'll admit it, I'm a travel writing snob.:) Working on it though because so many blogs are very, very interesting to read I'm finding. Plus, it's nice to connect with other writers period.

Moving  on, it was a fun event hosted by Mexico City and there was an amazing raffle which this travel/fashion blogger won. I'm so jealous! lol Aren't you?  P1070686

In any case, the event was fun, informative, tasty, and well run. It's nice to have an LA Chapter that is active.

I also enjoyed seeing the changes taking place in the WeHo Design District since I really hadn't been there since moving back from Las Vegas.

So without further ado, enjoy these (sometimes blurry, I apologize in advance) pix from the mixer here.

And for the record, I have been writing comments next to each photo, but a millennial told me he just scans the photos, doesn't read captions which has made me write more copy in the header now.

Let me know which you like better. Thanks.
