Jesse Campbell aka @singjessesing from @NBCTheVoice Fundraiser in Chicago May 5 at The Stave Mansion #TheVoice #Music

A friend, Daryl Roberts of America the Beautiful documentary, sent me his newsletter today and with his permission, I'm reprinting his fundraiser on behalf of the amazing talent, Jesse Campbell from The Voice since I'm a big fan.

So, here's Daryl's reason for hosting the event, some pix and then link to where to buy tickets or donate if you're interested in supporting this single Dad achieve his dream:

JESSE CAMPBELL "THE VOICE" FUNDRAISER

On Saturday May 5, 2012, I'm hosting a fundraiser for former Chicagoan, Jesse Campbell in Chicago at Stave Mansion. As many of you already know, America fell in love with Jesse after hearing his life story and listening to his golden vocals as a contestant on NBC's "The Voice".

This single dad, who at times has had to resort to sleeping in his car with his young daughter sleeping on his chest, electrified worldwide viewers of "The Voice" with vocals that possessed polish, range, and tone that had never been seen on a television talent show.

Millions of fans flocked to the internet, creating twitter teams, blogs and fan pages, all to herald this fabulous talent.  "The Voice" coaches/judges, Adam Levine (Maroon 5), Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton (11 #1 Country Hits), and Jesse's own coach Christina Aguilera unanimously declared Jesse the "Dude to Beat" and "clear favorite to win the whole thing".

He was the fan favorite as well, and, by an extremely wide margin, received more fan votes than any other contestant.  Jesse WAS "The Voice".  He was on EVERY commercial. He was the face of the show.

As "The Voice" progressed into the quarterfinal rounds, contestant's advancement or elimination was supposed to be based solely on the votes and support of the public.  A surprise announcement was made at the onset of the quarterfinal round, declaring that an "instant elimination", based solely on the discretion of the coach of the competing team, would occur at the end of the day's competition.

Jesse sang Beyonce's "Halo", a song picked by his coach Christina.  He NAILED IT, and had the world in tears as pictures of he and his daughter scrolled in the background. Even Beyonce tweeted "I love Jesse Campbell's voice."

As Team Xtina gathered nervously on stage to face elimination, everyone wondered which of the other three contestants would be the one to fall.  To the complete shock and horror of her fellow judges and the viewing public, Christina eliminated Jesse.  The audience fell silent, the world erupted and the other judges looked at her in disbelief.

This nefarious and unprecedented rule change and elimination cost Jesse a chance at $100,000 and a fresh start for him and his daughter.  The blogosphere, Twitter, and Facebook exploded with hundreds of thousands of shocked fans complaining and protesting in disbelief.  They have demanded Jesse's return to the show, but so far, to no avail.

The night Jesse was eliminated from the show, tennis great Serena Williams Tweeted, "Omg Jessie Cambell was the best performance tonight are you serious??? WTH? #teamchristina yuck! I love you Jessie!!!!!" Jesse is too classy and humble to say so, but it is painfully obvious that he was wronged.

This didn't sit well with me, so on May 5, 2012, I am gathering friends, family, and complete strangers in a show of love and appreciation of a job well done. He has spent most of the last six (6) months sequestered and has not been able to make a living.  The goal of our "We love you Jesse Campbell," fundraiser is to raise funds in order to ease his burden as he embarks toward his goal of securing a recording contract and taking care of his daughter.

There will be food and drinks, and Jesse will even sing a song or two. Join us for a night of fun and celebration, where we honor a strong, wonderful man and a great single dad.

Jesse

MUSIC MONDAY: Featuring Carrie Underwood in Oscar De La Renta at the Nashville Symphony

By Joy A. Kennelly

I had the privilege of hearing Carrie Underwood debut her latest hit single, Good Girl, before the rest of the world at the Nashville Symphony in TN during the Nordstrom Oscar De La Renta fundraiser.

Although she grew up quite humbly shopping only at Walmart, since winning American Idol she has worn some of the most sophisticated designers in the world. She confided that during American Idol she was so concerned about saving money to attend college, she rarely spent her entire American Idol clothing budget. Looking back she realized image is so important and wish she'd splurged a little.

The night I met her, she was stunning in Oscar de La Renta.

Press roomThis was the dress she wore to the press conference. Doesn't she look beautiful?

She changed into this short flirty number to perform and yet another dress for the dinner which I didn't attend.

Her husband was unable to attend due to a game. When asked who was more fashionable, her or her husband, Mike Fisher of the Nashville Predators, she exclaimed, "My husband!"

She loves dressing up in cocktail dresses when they go out together. Her height in heels is only 5'3" so you will rarely catch her in flats. The last time she performed at the Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center she received their prestigious Harmony Award.

You can see her live at the Bayou Country Music Superfest on May 26, 2012. Buy tickets here: http://www.bayoucountrysuperfest.com/tickets/

Her latest album, Blown Away, drops May 1, but you can pre-order here: http://www.myplaydirect.com/carrie-underwood/details/26725604
