#Walk With Sally's #White Light, White Night Fundraiser, July 10, 2010 with #Rocco Delucca & the Burden #in

By Joy A. Kennelly

I'm looking forward to attending the Walk With Sally White Light, White Night Fundraiser tomorrow night and thought you might like to join me and other celebrities, South Bay socialites, philanthropists, and music lovers all dressed in white who are also supporting this worthy cause. Rooftop Dining
Doesn't it look amazing? There's still tickets left which you can buy here. All the money raised supports Walk With Sally which provides mentor support programs and services to children, parents or siblings with cancer.

Here's some official info from the press release:

"White Light White Night serves to benefit Walk With Sally, a South Bay non-profit organization that provides free-of-charge mentoring support programs and services for children across Los Angeles who are living with or have lost a parent or sibling to cancer. 'Last year, White Light White Night alone allowed us to fund 50 new mentor relationships, and maintain the existing 40 friendships,' says Walk With Sally’s Founder, Nick Arquette. 'This year, we hope to not only maintain these relationships but foster 60 new friendships with mentors.'"

Their tag line is: one child at a time, one heart at a time. Isn't that sweet? I love it.

Have to admit, when I saw the invite below, at first I thought I would be seeing the sexy Chef Rocco DiSpirito foodie that I am, which is why I thought it would be fun to attend. Obviously read it wrong!Wlwn2010std_rocco_FINAL
However, have to also admit, learning it's actually going to be the band, Rocco Deluca and the Burden, I'm not disappointed one iota.

Here's one of their beach music videos to jog your ears in case you can't place them. Once you hear, I'm sure you'll recognize their music since they're very popular.

Gotta love talented Rocco's doing their thing!

Now that I also know BLAZE PR, a company I worked for ages ago very briefly is involved, I know it will be top-notch. This will be the first South Bay fundraiser event I've ever attended and not produced now that I think about it.

I was actually supposed to volunteer for this event, but my mother went into the hospital for a month with serious heart complications and that prevented me from doing anything other than caring for her. She's great now which is why I am looking forward to enjoying myself with friends I haven't seen in awhile and supporting such a worthy cause.

Here's another description of the charity from the press release:

"Walk With Sally is dedicated to providing mentoring support programs and services to children of parents or siblings with cancer – one child at a time, one heart at a time. Walk With Sally is committed to providing healing and comfort to children debilitated by the emotional experience of living with or losing a parent or sibling to cancer. This healing is facilitated through free of charge mentoring support programs and services that provide an emotionally safe environment for children to share their difficult experience with someone who has suffered the same.

A Los Angeles-based, registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Walk With Sally can be found on the web at http://www.WalkWithSally.org."

And if that's not enough incentive to attend, perhaps viewing these BMW beauties in person will persuade you? I love luxury vehicles, don't you?

Come on out, support Walk With Sally and enjoy a little music by Rocco Deluca and the Burden, a little nosh courtesy of local restaurants, and a whole lot of auction fun. See you there!

But if you can't make it, consider becoming a mentor because I'm sure they'd love to have you volunteer too. Here's a recent Good Day LA TV newscast highlighting a child who's been mentored after his father died suddenly from cancer. http://www.myfoxla.com/dpp/good_day_la/walk-with-sally-fundraiser-20100709

So heart warming isn't it? That's all tonight. Have a great weekend whatever you end up doing.
