I'm volunteering and posting the callback sheets for all the actors.
So exciting!:)
My friend John D. Ware is the Founder/President of 168 Film Project and someone I've known for over 10 years.
Really proud of all he's accomplished with this film festival since I know exactly how hard running short film festivals can be having run my own for five years back in the day called SPIFF (Short Pictures International Film Festival.)
168 Film Project requires people to put together a film in 168 hours based on a Bible verse around that year's theme which all the producers choose randomly on Monday night.
They then have to write a script based on the themed verses immediately after, keeping them to 13 minutes or less.
Casting is on Saturday, today, and the producers will see over 300 actors before today is over. There were over 2,000 submissions and these 300 made the cut.
The films shoot on Friday at 2pm through Sunday. The producers edit Monday and then turn it in, I believe, by Wednesday.
Then all the films are screened by several groups of industry professionals which takes two weeks.
The best of the best are sent to known industry professionals for the final judging which include such judges as Ralph Winter (Planet Of The Apes, Wolverine - small films like that!:) who then select the winners out of 20 different categories.
Then the first weekend of March is the screening at the Alex Theatre in Glendale with all who were involved attending to pack out the house. Every film has a chance to be seen over that weekend and the winners are announced then too.
Some of their success stories include a team from last year making it to the top five for the Super Bowl Dorrito Commercial. Another team went on to win The Doorpost competition with $100,000 prize.
My Actor buddy, Richard Clark Larson, who participates with 168 regularly and was featured in a Super Bowl commercial this year. You would recognize him - long curly red hair, hippie looking with a beard.
QUIRKY LOOK:) Hire him!
More details available on 168 Film Project for you to participate or check out the talent here:
www.168filmproject.com There is so much potential here! 20 teams come from out-of-state and 10 teams are from out of the country.
My buddy, 1st AD, Dion Ramos, is the Volunteer Coordinator here and also coordinates the volunteers for PATH at Ecclesia. Good heart.
Gotta run. More to come....
