Check out these radicals - did you read today's LA Times?
I don't know about you, but every time I watch one of those Vote No on Prop 8 commercials I want to gag. They insist that gays don't have rights right now, but that's total BS.
In fact, what this does is ELIMINATE the rights of straight people. Didn't realize that did you?
Here's the facts straight from the Government site explaining this issue:
"Proposition 8 is simple and straightforward. It contains the same 14 words that were previously approved in 2000 by over 61% of California voters: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”
Because four activist judges in San Francisco wrongly overturned the people’s vote, we need to pass this measure as a constitutional amendment to RESTORE THE DEFINITION OF MARRIAGE as a man and a woman.
Proposition 8 is about preserving marriage; it’s not an attack on the gay lifestyle. Proposition 8 doesn’t take away any rights or benefits of gay or lesbian domestic partnerships. Under California law, “domestic partners shall have the same rights, protections, and benefits” as married spouses. (Family Code § 297.5.)
There are NO exceptions. Proposition 8 WILL NOT change this.
YES on Proposition 8 does three simple things:
It restores the definition of marriage to what the vast majority of California voters already approved and human history has understood marriage to be.
It overturns the outrageous decision of four activist Supreme Court judges who ignored the will of the people.
It protects our children from being taught in public schools that “same-sex marriage” is the same as traditional marriage.
Proposition 8 protects marriage as an essential institution of society. While death, divorce, or other circumstances may prevent the ideal, the best situation for a child is to be raised by a married
mother and father.
The narrow decision of the California Supreme Court isn’t just about “live and let live.” State law may require teachers to instruct children as young as kindergarteners about marriage. (Education
Code § 51890.)
If the gay marriage ruling is not overturned, TEACHERS COULD BE REQUIRED to teach young children there is no difference between gay marriage and traditional marriage.
Now where are the parent's rights in this? Who the hell gives a teacher the right to teach my child about homosexual marriage without my permission? Whose rights are being violated in this instance?
Mine. Not the gay person who already has the rights of their domestic partnership. MINE! Sorry, you're entitled to do whatever you want in the privacy of your home and live whatever kind of lifestyle you want, but if you try to cram something down my child's throat without my permission, or determine how my church will operate, I have an issue with that.
And people wonder why home schooling is on the rise and why children in home schooling actually do better than traditional public education? GIVE ME A BREAK!
Here's a radical response taken from today's LA Times:
Prayer in the service of politics - notice how the lone "religious" dissenter isn't a Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, or any other Biblically based denomination, or any other denomination that would uphold traditional marriage, but the Episcopal faith that is universally more liberal.
Pays to pick your sources right?
LA Times just doesn't get how blatant and one-sided they really come across. Maybe that's why so many people aren't reading it or subscribing any more. I know I'm one-sided, but I'm only doing it to balance out the debate since it's not heard very much.
What I find funny is that the LA Times thinks they're helping the cause by throwing their support behind it when everyone I know who knows the Times and is conservative realizes that's as good as saying, "Don't vote the way they say. LA Times believes exactly the opposite!"
When you Google Proposition 8, the majority of the sites that come up are regarding No on Prop 8. I want to show that many more people are voting Yes on Prop 8 than the liberal media and others would like you to believe.
Here's another interesting article from the LA Business Journal just last Friday:
Poll: Most will vote yes on Proposition 8
"This week's Los Angeles Business from bizjournals Business Pulse survey asked: How will you vote on Proposition 8?
The voting broke down as follows:
- Vote yes, I oppose same-sex marriage -- 61 percent
- Vote no, I support same-sex marriage -- 36 percent
- Don't know/not sure -- 3 percent"
And here's another news survey that is very interesting too:
CBS 5 Poll: Young Voters Lead Prop 8 Support Shift
Contrary to a site which claims, "If Prop 8 passes, it would be the first time in American history that an existing minority right would be taken away by the vote of a majority."
Actually, this is the SECOND time in history that this proposition has been voted on and illegally overturned. Where is the ad campaign stating the obvious? Isn't this just another example of thugocracy?
If at first you don't succeed, pay off the judges to overturn the vote of the general public to support the homosexual agenda, put the issue back on the ballot, lie about the issue in ad after ad, and then attack anyone who dares to counter this radical behavior as anti-homosexual and trying to take away rights.
HELLO! My rights have been stamped on over and over again with this issue, yet you haven't heard me complain till now. And I will continue to complain loudly and often because I disagree with thugocracy politics. Also Mayors who speak on behalf of only a portion of the population as a representative of my city.
The good news this site (which again, will remain nameless to avoid giving them any more publicity) stated is as follows:
"The Yes on 8 campaign is ahead in critical fundraising, spurred in part by Christian conservative Sarah Palin’s entrance into the presidential race. As of Sept. 11, the Yes on Prop 8 campaign raised $15,878,593.16, with more than $750,000 raised on Sept. 10 alone."
What I found fascinating in reading that article is that the majority of big-time homosexuals who have tons of money aren't financially contributing to this issue. I think one has stepped forward since then, but not sure about the rest.
Maybe that's changed since it was written as of September 10, but for now, here's a list of a bunch of other big name Hollywood yuppity yups who haven't contributed dime one to this issue according to this site:
"Also missing (as of Sept. 10) from the rolls were: Rosie O’Donnell, whose Feb. 27, 2004, marriage to Kelli Carpenter was nullified; Sir Elton John, who tied the civil partnership knot with partner David Furnish in England; rock star Melissa Etheridge, whose domestic partnership/wedding to actress Tammy Lynn Michaels Sept. 22, 2003, was celebrated in In Style magazine.
Other producers and directors not on the list include Paul Colichman (here!TV) Greg Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters), Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives), Bryan Singer (Superman Returns), Joel Schumacher (Batman & Robin), and Gus Van Sant..."
Interesting, eh? Even they don't want this proposition to pass, or else are willing to stand up and be counted. Now I can't verify the accuracy of this site, nor am I attempting to out people unnecessarily, but I'm merely quoting something that you all might find as interesting as I did.
I'm sure you can find the gay site if you search key words. Just not in the mood to share. Deal with it.
I'm a blogger, not a paid journalist. LOL
Oh, and for those curious about this topic from the "I support traditional marriage" side, or those curious what the big deal is, check out this site: www.isupportmarriage.com.
Very interesting videos to consider:
Robb and Robin Wirthlin's Story
"Interview with Robb and Robin Worthlin, the Massachusetts parents who courageously decided to fight the system after teachers began teaching second graders about gay marriage in public schools."
Are we willing to take away the rights of certain people at the extent of others? This whole rights issue goes both ways. CA is next if Proposition 8 doesn't pass. Think about it.
Whereas Gays will retain their rights if this does pass, parents won't. The Government will promote homosexuality and parents will have no right to object.
Yes on 8: It's Already Happened
Where's the Love? -- Yes on Proposition 8 (Prop 8) - Yard Signs
Gays need to realize tolerance goes both ways. Parents have the RIGHT to be protective of their children's childhood and that right shouldn't be taken away. Nor should churches have to defend their rights either.
Period. End of story.
Vote yes to protect traditional marriage.
All Support Traditional Marriage Both parties (Democrat & Republican) support traditional marriage. Remember this from our recent VP Debates? Check out the link if you missed it.

Ali, did you happen to read this part? Gays already have equal rights, this is to give straight people rights to keep traditional marriage as it is.

If the only difference between gay marriage and domestic partnerships is the name its called why do you care what its called? Are your children being forced to learn about domestic partnerships and have domestic partnerships harmed your family in some way?

Sorry to disappoint you Jeremiah, but traditional marriage is bigger than the rights Gays are requesting.
Did you read the entire blog? Or just the comment? Click on some of the links to the articles I've posted as well which might answer your questions.
Here's something that people are distributing that might answer your question a little better too:
Marriage Proclamation
WHEREAS, the People of California affirm that it is in a child’s best interest to be raised by a father and a mother who are married.
WHEREAS, the People have a compelling responsibility to ensure that the civil institution of marriage between a man and a woman is honored as the foundation of family and society and protected as an important role model for future generations.
WHEREAS, in the March 7, 2000 election, the voters of LA
County approved Proposition 22, a statutory initiative, which stated, “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California,” by 61 percent.
(California Secretary of State Proposition 22 election results:

THEREFORE, we endorse Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment on the November 4, 2008 California ballot, which states, “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”
