What a treat.
Then I came home and learned that my professional blog, The Joy Writer PR blog, has been honored with a 7 out of 10 rating for an entertainment blog on blogged.com.
Isn't that fun? I better write some new stuff on it soon. lol
Recently The Shore Restaurant and Lounge hosted the UCLA Alumni Association for a special Wine & Cheese tasting which was a huge success. Who knew wine drinkers were so loud? Just kidding. There must have been about 70 plus people in attendance. Here's some fun pix from that night for your viewing pleasure. I was kind of stuck at the front of the house checking people in and don't know who these people are. However, I'm sure some of you do!
Can you tell I didn't take a lot of the pictures? Our male General Manager did. Next time, I'm roaming around taking pix of the mens for all you ladies. I promise.
Now, on to the Los Angeles Magazine Food Event '08 at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, CA this past Sunday. Chef David Linville knocked it out of the park. People just loved his homemade mozzarella caprese salad.
It was also fun to see Food Critic Merrill Shindler who I know from years ago when I was first getting in the entertainment business. He's still as funny and adorable as ever. Cher Calvin was the other host and there were quite a few restaurants showcasing their delicious food too.
According to my wine (snob) friends (JUST KIDDING!), they would have liked more variety in the wines, while I personally enjoyed my first taste of Luffe beer. I don't drink beer, but enjoy a Stella when I do. I even took the Stella Artois glass home with me from the day.
So, without further ado, here's some pictures from the day. Please note, I'm sharing photo credit with Photographer Rodrigo Armstrong this go round.
Enjoy the picture story!
We drove up in style courtesy of my friend, Angelique, from our Elite Singles by the Shore group. Thanks Angelique!
I made a mistake and kept calling this place Saddleback by accident which I think might have thrown some people off. For those who were confused, here's the official signage.:)
This is the entrance to the event. It was very busy at the beginning and this is towards the end of the day which is why its not as busy.
This was the first animal we saw, but there were zebras, ostrichs, sheep, llamas, a camel, and a peacock too! Made me think this was a white Michael Jackson's ranch to be honest. Just trying to be funny. You get the joke right?
We met DJ Richard Blade first off (remember him from the '80's?). He was playing such good music he was like a Piped Piper drawing us to him. He's so personable, friendly, full of energy, nice and intelligent. Really nice guy. Set a great tone for the entire day. You can hear him on Sirius now.
Click on the above link to book him for a party or a wedding. Lots of fun!
Finally arrived at the Main Tent where Chef David Linville of The Shore Restaurant and Lounge had set up for his demonstration of home-made mozzarella cheese and caprese salad. It was so exciting to be there for both of us!
Food Critic and Radio Personality, Merrill Shindler, joined us for a quick shot before the demo. Thanks Merrill!
Chef had his good friend and amazing Chef, Jake, assist him. Some of you may recognize him if you happen to know an actor with piercing blue eyes currently on Brothers and Sisters 'cuz Jake was his personal chef in the past.
Merrill set up Chef's demo with Cher Calvin as his co-host. Here's some pix to enjoy of Chef's demo.
Check out Merrill's face! I think we were all thinking what he was showing. Don't worry. It was delicious as always.:)
Wa lah!
Cher was so nice. What a really gracious, beautiful woman. No wonder she's so successful. These were a huge hit too.
This was the view when you first walked in.
Recognize the above restaurant? Darren's over in MB also participated. I had to go all the way to Malibu to try their food - never knew they existed till that day. Too fun.
Actor Domiziano Arcangeli was in attendance, as were these famous chefs - recognize them?
Enjoy!
Chef David Linville with internationally renowned Chef Kerry Simon of Simon LA at the Sofitel.
The Shore Restaurant and Lounge Chef David Linville with Chef Nancy Silverton of Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza.
I know this woman is from a TV Reality show and I apologize, I forget her name. I do remember though that Chef David helped her prepare for her TV appearance. Very fun.
And then here's me and Angelique just relaxing after such a great day.
And now some random shots from the event overall...
Who wears it better? :) I don't think she even knew we were doing this, but we all though it was hysterical. I know. It's the small things in life. lol This is Rodrigo, my photography counterpoint. Doesn't he have a great eye? Lovin' it!
Ok, that's all for now! TTFN! Thanks for stopping by.
If you care to see more of the fun times at The Shore and around town, check out our Elite Singles by The Shore site's photo albums.
See ya!

Great pictures of the LA Food Event! I hope you got to see the special gift bags at the event, which included my grape cluster and fruit-themed earrings!

Chef forgot to tell me about that part and I forgot to ask! Bummer. I would have loved to give you some buzz.
If you feel like sending over any to me to showcase and wear, I'm more than happy to highlight them in a blog.:)
Thanks for reading and dropping a line!
